Ohio State tight ends add another dimension to the explosive Buckeyes offense

Quarterback C.J. Stroudwas in the shotgun. He motioned tight for end Cade StoverTo his right. Stroud faked tossing to run back TreVeyon HendersonStover was able to draw two linebackers as he attempted to fake his blocking assignment.

He ran a delayed vertical route instead of blocking and Stroud threw an assist to Stover for 38 yard.

A play later, the Buckeyes were lined up in an I-formation with Stover on their right throwing a block to Henderson for the first touchdown.

These plays show Ohio State what it can do with its tight ends. Shotgun one play. Under center the next. Maybe a heavy set for the next series.

The Buckeyes are the FBS’s top offense with 565.3 yards per game and 10th in scoring (47.7 per game). They also have one of the best offenses in the country. But it’s also a diverse offense, one built to keep defenses on their toes, and a key part of that are the tight ends.
