Officials Bomb the Ukraine Civilian Convoy, At Least 23 People Killed by Russians

  • Officials said that Russian missiles struck a convoy of Ukrainian civilians and killed at least 23 people.

According to Ukrainian officials, at least 23 people were killed in an attack on a convoy consisting of civilian cars. The convoy was supposed to be helping people evacuate from a Russian-occupied city.

Reuters reported that a Russian missile strike was responsible.

Oleksandr Starukh is the governor of Zaporizhzhia. Telegram reports that at most 23 people are dead and 28 are injured.

He said, “All civilians are our compatriots.”

“These people went to their relatives living in the occupied territories and brought humanitarian aid. Starukh explained that they were supposed to take our citizens to the liberated part of Ukraine.

In an earlier statement, he stated that people were waiting to be taken to the occupied territory to collect their loved ones and deliver aid.

Zaporizhzhia, a Ukrainian-controlled city in eastern Ukraine is close to Russia’s occupied areas.

Starukh shared an image showing a blurred-out corpse lying on the road in between cars.

Photos taken from the site show injured and deceased people in cars, and on the roads.

Ukrainian presidential advisor Kyrylo Tymoshenko Telegram reported that four missiles struck the auto market, where cars were gathering.

“There was a column with cars carrying civilians who were on their way to temporarily occupied territory in order to pick up their families,” he stated.

In a post later, he added: “There are only civil cars around, in the which some people have died. There’s no military equipment. 

According to a Russian official who blamed Ukraine for the attack on the Russian Embassy, BBC reported.

Ivan Federov (the mayor of Melitopol in Ukraine) stated in Telegram that the enemy had attacked a convoy civilian cars, which were waiting to leave Zaporizhzhia.

He claimed that Zaporizhzhia residents travel to Zaporizhzhia every single day to “support their loved ones, deliver vital medicine to civilians and then return home.”

Federov claimed Friday morning, that it was “still impossible to even count how many people have been killed or wounded.”

He said, “Among the victims sind Melitopol residents. We won’t forget.”
