No. 3 Georgia dominates No. 1 Tennessee; Hendon Hooker sacked six times

The national champion defending Georgia BulldogsThey showed their strength and won a dominant 27-13 victory over the Tennessee Volunteers at Sanford Stadium on Saturday.

Stetson Bennett threw two touchdown passes and added one to the ground.

Tennessee could not score a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Hendon hooker started the game as the favorite in the Heisman Race, but his chances at winning the trophy probably fell short after he completed less than 200 yards passing with just one touchdown pass and one interception.

It was a far cry of Hooker’s incredible five-touchdown performance in Vols’ thrilling win against the Alabama Crimson TideOctober

The offensive line of Tennessee was terrible from start to finish Saturday. Hooker was also thrown out six times.

Hooker was also responsible in losing a fumble that almost led to a safety for Georgia. Hooker attempted to run for fourth down on the Volunteers’ final possession but fell short. 

Tennessee was averaging almost 50 points per game when they entered the match.

Georgia’s convincing win will most likely see the Bulldogs leaping up from No. 3 slot in next week’s College FootballPlayoff rankings.

Georgia contained Hooker and Cedric Tillman (Hiker’s top receivers), but not Hyatt or Cedric Tillman. Georgia held the Vols to only two field goals in the first quarter, giving them a 24-6 lead at halftime. Rain made it harder to move against the Bulldogs’ defense in the second period.

Bennett was able to throw scoring passes of 37 to Ladd McConkey, and 5 to Marcus RosemyJacksaint during the first period. Bennett also added a 13 yard scoring run.

Georgia’s passing attack was big against Tennessee’s secondary. Bennett completed passes of 52 yards to ArianSmith and 49 yards back to Kenny McIntosh, running back.

Next Saturday, the Volunteers will be returning home to Neyland Stadium for a friendly match. Matchup against Missouri. Three consecutive victories for Tennessee against Missouri.

Georgia will travel to Starkville for play Mississippi State Nov. 12. Georgia has won three consecutive series games.
