Many rugged phones come with ridiculous specs that might be useful in certain situations. But Doogee’s new model is free of these gimmicks, and offers some improvements over the previous model.
Doogee has unveiled the S96 GT, which is available to purchase for £227/$249.99 via AliExpress. The phone is available for $50 cheaper than the regular price and in limited edition gold.
The successor to the S96 Pro was the Doogee S96 GT. It retains many of the same features and specifications, but there are some enhancements. The main difference between the S96 Pro and the S96 GT is the chipset. The S96 GT runs on a MediaTek Helio G95 CPU, while the S96 Pro uses the Helio G90.
Despite being a two years old chipset the Helio G95 SOC promises a fast, smooth gaming experience that can handle titles like PUBG mobile. As it’s a rugged smartphone, the Doogee S96 GT is protected by a toughened black shell with an orange insert in addition to the special edition gold option. In the meantime, the S96 Pro’s selfie camera has been upgraded from 16MP to 32MP. The S96 GT is capable of recording videos at 4K resolution.
The 6,320mAh battery keeps the lights on and supports 24W fast charging. With support for wireless charging up to 15W, the phone is a step ahead of the S96 Pro.
It looks very similar to the old model. It has the same 6.22-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 720 x 1520. Corning Gorilla Glass protects the screen. However, the exact version is unknown.
