NFL and NFLPA change concussion protocols: There are reports

The NFL has approved modified concussion protocols to be implemented ahead of Sunday’s games, according to multiple reports. On Friday, the NFL Players Association stated that it Concussion protocol changes to be made.Following the success of Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s Sept. 25 concussion check and that it wanted those changes to go into effect before the weekend’s slate of games.

The parameters of the modified concussion protocols will effectively eliminate a loophole regarding alternative causes of gross motor instability, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. According to Pelissero, the NFLPA approved the final language Friday while the NFL did the same on Saturday.

Tagovailoa was stretchered off the field after taking a hard hit during the Dolphins’ Thursday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals last week.
