Newt Gingrich, the former Republican House Speaker warned that the Republican Party must stop “underestimating” President Joe Biden. Despite Democrats having narrow majorities in both Congress chambers, Biden has managed to score significant legislative wins in his first two years of office.
Gingrich claimed Wednesday that GOP opposition against Biden has led the party’s success to be minimized.
“We hate Biden so much that we pettily concentrate on his speaking difficulties…and other personal flaws.” He wrote on his website.
Gingrich was the representative of a small section of suburban Atlanta in US House of Representatives 1979-1999 and served as its speaker 1995-1999.
He said, “Like nearly all conservatives or Republicans, I strongly oppose his policies.” They are clearly weakening America, and strengthening our enemies. Like most Americans, I also oppose the woke policies that threaten to undermine and destroy American culture. The conservative hostility towards the Biden administration on terms we prefer tends to make it difficult to see just how effective Biden is on his terms.
Gingrich’s comments are coming after Democrats dramatically outperformed most political expectations during the midterms with Democrats retaining their Senate Majority and greatly curtailing losses at the House.
Under Gingrich’s watch in 1994, the GOP took back control of the House after 40 years in the minority — while also seizing control of the Senate for the first time since relinquishing control in 1987 — in what is widely known as the “Republican Revolution.”
