Thompson said that Donald Trump’s actions after the 2020 election were unlike anything any president had done in this country during the opening statements of the hearing. In a shocking betrayal to his oath, Donald Trump tried to plot an attack on a pillar in our democracy. It’s still hard to believe.

FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP SUBPOENAED JANUARY 6 COMMITTEE

Surprisingly, the committee unanimously voted in favor of subpoenaing Trump to testify.

Taking to Truth Social, Trump — who has been routinely critical of the committee and its investigation — called it a “total bust” and said the committee’s purpose was only “to further divide” the country.

“Why didn’t the Unselect Committee ask me to testify months ago? Why did they wait to the end, in the last minutes of their last meeting? Because the Committee is a total ‘BUST’ that has only served to further divide our Country which, by the way, is doing very badly,” Trump wrote.

Fox News Digital heard from a person familiar with Trump’s past that he loves the idea of giving evidence before the committee. Trump could then talk about “how corrupt the election, how corrupted the committee, and why Nancy Pelosi did NOT call up the committee”. National Guard Trump strongly encouraged her to do so three days earlier, January 3, 2021.

In another post on social media, the president teased the same information.

“Why didn’t Crazy Nancy Pelosi call out the ‘troops’ before January 6th, which I strongly recommended that she do. It was her responsibility, but she ‘didn’t like the look.’ Crazy Nancy failed the American People!” He wrote Thursday afternoon.

Trump called the investigation by the committee and Fox News Digital’s exclusive interview on Thursday a “witch hunt” in an exclusive interview.

Trump stated that the committee was a hoax and a sham. He also said that it is a continuation to the witch hunt that began when I walked down the golden escalator in honor of our great country. They don’t have a case and they don’t have ratings so they must do this for publicity.

Trump said to Fox News Digital, that the investigation was “a partisan witch hunting, together with Two Republicans that have been thrown out of the party — one not wanting to run because he couldn’t win; and another losing by a record number of more than 40 points.”
