Nevada Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto defeats Republican Adam Laxalt at the Senate race

That is what the Fox News Decision Desk can project Democratic SenatorCatherine Cortez-Masto, defeating Republican challenger Adam Laxalt, will retain her Nevada seat. This victory will allow Democrats to keep control of the Senate.

Cortez Masto, a former state attorney general and two-term veteran, was the first Latina to be elected to the Senate in 2016. She succeeded Harry Reid, a long-serving Democratic senator. NevadaEight years as Senate Majority leader, he was a great example of this.

Laxalt succeeded Cortez Massto as state attorney General. He is a veteran of the Iraq War, the grandson and nephew of Senator Paul Laxalt (Nevada governor) and was the GOP’s 2018 gubernatorial nominee. Steve Sisolak.

Laxalt was supported by both Former President Donald Trump and longtime Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, was one of the leaders of Trump’s effort in Nevada to unsuccessfully overturn the then-president’s 202 loss in the state to now-President Biden.

In the closing stretch of this year’s general election, Laxalt gained ground after his campaign and allied Republican groups blasted Cortez Masto over the economy and inflation, and thanks in part to an increase in support among Hispanic voters.
