Netflix’s The School for Good and Evil’ rules, but Rachel Bloom is needed more

Imagine not wanting to see your family ever again. They would have had to be really awful people It will last a long while right?

Paul Feig’s wildly whimsical adaptation of Soman’s beloved YA fantasy book series, The School for Good and EvilThese are the conditions Sophie Anne Caruso, the seemingly Cinderella part of the core friendship, finds herself in. Sophie, unlike Agatha (Sofia Wylie), is not subject to the same abuse and persecution as her friend Agatha. She deals with the situation in her own home just like the heroine from the European folktale.

It’s here that Sophie’s evil stepmother, one of the most highly billed and personally most anticipated names, is located: Rachel Bloom. Co-creator of Crazy Ex-GirlfriendBloom, a musical theatre comedy king of our hearts, stars as Honora, Stefan’s partner and technically Sophie’s stepmother.

However, the problem is she becomes like Five lines. These are great and include shouting at Sophie to “get out of bed now” She didn’t spend an hour on her hair and then lambasted Sophie for “wasting” a tomato her stepbrothers Jacob & Adam had pelted with. It was supposed to be in the stew! Diabolical! Hilarious! It’s hilarious! Bibbidi bobbidi boooooo. Let’s face it, Bloom was probably busy hitting it out in the park with the best. RebootThis was all she had time for. But, I would have loved to see her perform some serious comedic damage by destroying the perennial. Evil stepmother trope: Christine Baranski’s brutality – Into the Woods Olivia Colman’s passive aggression meets energy in FleabagMeet Elaine Hendrix’s ice-cold vindictiveness and in The Parent TrapDisney’s live action feature features the unblinking terror Cate Blanchett Cinderella. Even better, consider a Honora spinoff!

Yes, the film is focused on Sophie’s and Agatha’s complicated friendship journey. However, the cast is filled with amazing grown-up actors as Harry Potter films. Professor Dovey (Kerry Washington), runs the School of Good, while Lady Lesso, Charlize Theron, runs the School of Evil. Both give outstanding performances. Patti Lupone is seen as Mrs. Deauville the bookseller, but his appearance is short and shaky. Laurence Fishburne plays the important role of the Schoolmaster, bridging the gap between two polarized schools. Michelle Yeoh plays the role of Professor Anemone, a man who hates smiling and teaching princesses to smile. Cate Blanchett is the Storian’s voice, recording all of it in a huge book. Mark Heap plays Professor Manley, the potions master and sniveling potions expert. If Rachel Bloom is also in the cast, it’s amazing. Make use of her talents

Maybe Netflix will announce a sequel. From where the film finishes, it’s almost certain. This would allow for more time to explore Honora’s tale, which has more nuance and depth than the evil stepmother archetype. Chainani’s story shows Honora and Vanessa falling in love with the same man, Stefan. Honora is his best friend. According to some reports, Vanessa buys a potion that will make Stefan enchant and then mar him. Honora and Stefan have loveless marriages. However, Honora forgives Stefan for leaving her best friend. Honora gives birth to Sophie after having two sons, Adam and Jacob, while Honora also has a daughter, Vanessa. Then, Vanessa dies, as does Honora’s husband, after which Honora and Stefan finally get together for real without marrying, and all their kids live together — though Stefan and Honora’s treatment of Sophie is pretty awful — enough to make Sophie wish herself out of there. Honora, Stefan and Galvadon play a larger role in future stories in the. School for Good and EvilSeries, particularly with our protagonists Sophie & Agatha. So fingers crossed that Bloom gets more screen time.

Except for this tiny request, The School for Good and EvilIt is a dazzling, magical, and highly-costummed Gothic fantasy sure to please fans and draw new fans to the series. More Bloom please! Now, all together:

The School for Good and EvilNetflix now has it streaming.
