Chris Rock will be the first comedian on streaming giant Netflix to perform a live streamed special.
He will perform live for a streaming global event in 2023.
Netflix posted the live show on its Twitter account Friday, November 11, 2022. It was a bid for live streaming technology, with Rock being the first to use it.
Sharing the news, Netflix wrote, “Chris Rock is set to be the first artist LIVE on Netflix.”
“The legendary comedian, writer, director, and actor’s newest comedy special will premiere live — globally — in early 2023 on Netflix!” the post read.

The comedy special was previously produced by Netflix and the comedian has collaborated before with Netflix. Tamborine2018 was the year. Chris also appeared in 2018. Netflix Is a JokeComedy festival with Dave Chappelle in 2022.
As per Deadline, Robbie Praw, Netflix VP of Stand-up and Comedy Formats said, “Chris Rock is one of the most iconic and important comedic voices of our generation.”
“We’re thrilled the entire world will be able to experience a live Chris Rock comedy event and be a part of Netflix history,” he added. “This will be an unforgettable moment and we’re so honored that Chris is carrying this torch.”
Chris Rock is currently on an Ego Death tour around the world. During a London show, he said that he would talk about his Oscars slap incident with Netflix.
“People expect me to talk about the bullshit, I’m not going to talk about it right now, I’ll get to it eventually, on Netflix,” he said as quoted by the news outlet.
This show will be Rock’s seventh stand-up special overall. Five specials he had previously done with HBO include Bigger & Blacker, Bring on the painFind out more.
