Nervous senior dog lights up when he realizes stranger is actually his favorite human

Kodiak was careful not to approach the stranger at his home too quickly as he watched him. Kodiak is getting older and now has trouble recalling. It takes him a little longer to complete some tasks.

Kodiak has a great nose and recognized the woman immediately after he gave her a sniff. Megan Hill, a resident of Kodiak since the ninth grade, was present to visit her family. He immediately lost his control and put his head into her hand, his entire body waving in delight.

Hill has shared a video clip of their reunion.

Hill stated, “With his age, he sometimes forgets my brother and me since we no longer live with my parents and can’t visit as often as we would like. When he did realize that it was me, it was just extremely heartwarming.”

Kodiak was rescued by Hill’s family when he was 9 months old. Kodiak was initially taken in by men but soon became comfortable with all family members.

“It took months for him to trust my dad,” according to Hill.

Kodiak was the missing piece that Hill’s family had been searching for until he felt secure enough to show off his endearing quirkiness.

“There is nothing happening in his brain except pure joy,” Hill said. “He is so silly and has brought so many laughs and stories to our family in the 13 years of having him.”

Hill is content with these times, even though she sometimes finds it difficult to see that her pet is getting older. Kodiak recognizes his best friend even though it may take him a while to notice it.

“This was the first time that it took him this long to recognize me, which made me sad,” Hill said. “[But] those greetings, even if they are bittersweet, are something I will never ever forget.”
