Musk Endorses Android Tweets Sent from iPhone

  • Elon Musk claims that Twitter will eliminate source labels that indicate the device from which a tweet was sent.
  • Twitter claims that labels allow users to “determine how trustful the content is.”
  • Some Twitter users have used labels to capture tweets that promote Android phones from iPhones.

Soon, it may be difficult to identify when an iPhone sends a tweet about an Android phone.

Elon Musk is the new billionaire owner and CEO of Twitter. He stated on Monday that Twitter would eliminate the label in tweets that indicated what kind of device they were sent to, such as an iPhone.

“And we will finally stop adding what device a tweet was written on (waste of screen space & compute) below every tweet,” Musk Tweet. “Literally no one even knows why we did that …”

Chance Miller is editor-in chief of the Apple news site. 9to5mac.comTwitter users noted that the feature was removed by the company in 2012 and re-implemented in 2018.

Twitter states that these source labels are “helpful in understanding how a tweet was posted.”

Twitter says that this additional information gives context to the tweet and its author. Help center says. “If the source is not recognized, you might want to find out more about the content to see if you can trust it.”

It has been used to track Android brand ambassadors tweeting using rival iPhones.

In 2018, Gal Gadot tweeted an ad for the Android phone, Huawei Mate 10 — from her iPhone, as It should be notedMarques Brownlee (a YouTuber with over 16 million subscribers) was the original author.

It’s not the first time that ambassadors and brands associated with Android have tweeted about the products using an iPhone.

  • The last month saw the Google Pixel Twitter accountA tweet from Apple CEO Tim Cook, which appeared to be a dig about the company. The initial tweet was deleted and tagged “Twitter For iPhone”.
  • Last year, Samsung had a US Twitter account Tweeted a pollTeasing the launch of a brand new product, it was sent from an iPhone.
  • A Promotional tweet for the Android Phone One Plus 7 ProT-Mobile hired an influencer to send this message from their iPhone in 2019.
  • Alicia Keys, a singer and celebrity ambassador for BlackBerry once said she had given up her iPhone to buy a BlackBerry Z10. She was soon caught. Tweeting from an iPhone
