Montana’s 1st Congressional district candidates

The former US Secretary of the Interior under the Trump administration is Congressman-elect Zinke.

The former Trump administration secretary was in Montana’s Senate from 2009 to 2013. He then served as a US Representative for Montana from 2015 until 2017. 

In a DebateZinke declared in October that he opposed abortion rights, but that he supported a total ban on abortion.

Tranel is a Democratic. He was raised on a ranch in eastern Montana. An attorneyWho has worked with renewable energy producers. She praised her entire career. Careerto work for Montanans, middle-class consumers and other Montanans. Tranel Totally oppose federal abortion restrictions. 

John Lamb, an Independent Candidate, also ran in general election. 

Montana’s 1st Congressional District: Voting history

Montana’s 1st Congressional district, newly created, covers 15 counties in western Montana as well as a portion of Pondera County. This includes the college towns of Missoula or Bozeman. 

After 30 years of having only one at-large congressional district, Montana now has two congressional districts. District 1 is open and Rep. Matt Rosendale will run for re-election. District 2 covers central and eastern Montana.

The 1st District was established after the 2020 Census. It would have seen former President Donald Trump win with a margin of almost 7 percentage points. 

The money race

According to OpenSecretsZinke raised $6million, spent $5.63million, and still had $532,000 to spend as of October 19.

Tranel raised $2.7million, spent $2.56million, and had $135,000 cash in hand as of October 19.

Since November 4, many super PACs, national parties committees, politically active non-candidates, and other groups have joined together spentAround $1.84million to advocate for or against candidates during this race, including the primary phase.
