Mike Pence, who laments Trump’s relationship collapse, fondly remembers his time at the White House

Former Vice President Mike PenceFox News Monday interviewer said he regrets the rapid decline in his relationship with Donald Trump. He refused to change his belief that there was no Constitutional maneuver to reverse the results of the 2020 elections.

“I’m sorry to say that, as different as our personalities may be, President Trump and me actually developed a close working relationship. He was more than my president. He was a friend of mine,” Pence said.

“We spent literally time together every day that we were at the White House, sometimes for up to four hours.”

Pence stated that Trump and he initially parted “amiably” in the wake the January 6th riot. But, Trump’s later return of biting public criticisms and accusations against Pence – in terms of his role as presiding officer of the Senate during the electoral count – led him to part ways permanently.

Some Republicans thought that the 1960 Presidential Election was a precedent to submit a second slate from states where there are errors. The Republicans approved a slate for Richard M. Nixon, while the Democrats approved an uncertified slate for John F. Kennedy.

Democrats won in December’s recount. Republican Gov. certified a third slate from Kennedy electors. William Quinn, which were ultimately accepted by then-Vice President Nixon – sitting in Pence’s position – on January 6, 1961.

Critics further analyzed 1887’s Electoral Count Act, which came after the disputed victory of Republican President Rutherford Hayes against the former New York Democratic Governor. Samuel Tilden.

The Indiana Republican stated that Trump’s reaction to the disagreement was part of the reason why he and his once strong relationship were broken.

“I understood my responsibility under the Constitution of America. I repeatedly repeated this to the president. But he had legal counsels around him who were telling him something else. We ended up having a disagreement, and it was very public.

“What made that even more difficult is because literally every step of the way – from the day I was added to the national ticket all the way until Election Day 2020 – we had a strong, close working relationship that was built on mutual respect.”

“Last autumn, when we got together. We parted amicably. We spoke many times after my departure. However, frankly, the President reverted to the rhetoric about me, and others, who had taken a stand against the Constitution. I felt it was best for us to just move on.”

Biden, not so, he said he and Trump didn’t just “talk” to world rivals like China’s Xi Jinping – they acted:

“We imposed 250 billion dollars in tariffs. We strengthened our military allies in the region. We preserved freedom of navigation, and held them accountable for intellectual theft,” he stated.

Pence also mentioned several other accomplishments that he and Trump achieved together. Pence described it as “rallying Back” after the Senate failed repeal Obamacare by Arizonan John McCain’s famed thumbs-down vote nay-vote.

“But then to see how, with the presidency’s leadership, I rallied back and cut taxes and really returned the strength and vitality for this country,” he stated.
