Michigan’s number one issue in the midterm elections is abortion, but Whitmer leads in the governor’s election.

Top Michigan voters rank abortion as the most important issue The cost of living and inflationA new poll revealed that Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer dominates the state’s gubernatorial races.

Detroit News/WDIV polled registered Michigan voters. It found that despite the Consumer Price Index (CPI), reporting an 8.3% increase in year-over-year inflation in August, and another spike in national gas prices, abortion ranked third in the top midterm issue for 36% of respondents.

The poll shows that Whitmer has a strong 17 point lead over Trump’s GOP opponent Tudor Dixon in the closely watched state gubernatorial race. It is 50% to 32%. Whitmer’s leadThe gap has widened following a recent Detroit News poll that showed Dixon had a 13-point lead over the Democrat among Michigan voters.

“It’s not tightening because nobody has done the work within the Republican electorate to let them know who their candidates are,” Richard Czuba, a pollster and founder of the Glengariff Group, said alongside the polling results that lean greatly in the Democrats favor.

Whitmer has outraised her Republican opponent. A August financial filing report revealed that Whitmer had $14 Million available in her campaign account. Dixon had only $523 930 in her coffers.

The Detroit News/WDIVSurvey was conducted between September 26 and 29, with a margin error of plus/minus 4 percentage points.
