Mercedes’ Most Powerful Car Creates a New Record at Legendary German Track

The most powerful car ever produced by Mercedes-Benz has set a new record for street-legal vehicles on the legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife racetrack in Germany.

Maro Engel, Mercedes-AMG One driver, was able to speed around the track in just 6:35.183 seconds. This beats the previous record of eight seconds despite less-than-ideal track conditions. Mercedes.

The hypercar, which has 1,049bhp, reached speeds of 210 mph when it set the new record. 

Only 275 Mercedes-AMG Ones will be made. The Mercedes-AMG One can legally be driven on public roads. The cars are priced at $2.6 million each and have already been sold out. 

It is a plug in hybrid car that features Formula One technology. Each car has a turbocharged, 1.6-litre V6 engine, four motors, and an 8.4kWh lithium battery. Daily Mail.

The previous record by a road-legal production car around Nürburgring was set by the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Manthey-Racing in June 2021, which clocked the circuit in 6 minutes and 43.300 seconds. 

 

Engel described Engel’s record-breaking lap on the Mercedes ATG-One was an “unforgettable” experience.

The German driver stated that he didn’t think they would be able set such a lap with the track conditions. It hadn’t dried completely in some areas so it was difficult. It was quite a challenge.

The Nürburgring is the World’s most dangerous racetrack. It measures just 13 miles in length and features more than 150 corners.
