Matthew Perry shares his feelings of being ‘dead inside’ while shooting the “Friends” finale.

His most recent novel Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible ThingMatthew Perry’s Nov. 1 interview with The New York Times featured his struggles with sobriety. Perry admitted that his addiction began when he was 24 years old, shortly after he was selected for the NBC series. Friends. The show aired for 10 seasons, 237 episodes and was a collaboration between Perry and Courteney Cox.

He was a fervent co-star in “The Last One”, the series finale in which the cast parted ways with a satisfying end. While the whole cast couldn’t stop crying after wrapping up the last scene, Perry said that he felt no emotion at all. The memoir Perry wrote in 2004 may give readers a glimpse into his emotions. He said, “We had made 237 episodes, including this last one, called, appropriately enough, ‘The Last One.’ Jennifer Aniston was sobbing — after a while, I was amazed she had any water left in her entire body. Matt LeBlanc even started to cry. But I didn’t feel anything. I couldn’t tell if that was because of the opioid buprenorphine I was taking, or if I was just generally dead inside.”

“So, instead of sobbing, I took a slow walk around the stage with my then-girlfriend — also appropriately called Rachel — stage 24 at Warner Bros,” he added.

Most people agree that the FriendsThe season finale was a wonderful way to close the long-running show and gave fans’ favourite characters a dignified goodbye.

Perry clearly regrets it, but he might have missed the unforgettable occasion with his co-stars of 10 years.
