Massachusetts Police Help Dog Rescue An 84-Year Old Man Stuck on A 20-Foot Slope. The Man Had Been “Yelling For hours”

At 9:30 pm, a man from Massachusetts was rescued after he fell into an embankment. Monday was his return home, with his dog.

According to the Northampton Police Department, the man’s wife, who was at home, notified authorities when she noticed the dog return without her husband, who has mobility challenges.

“Today, at approximately 9:30 PM, officers were dispatched to a South Street residence to assist with locating a resident’s missing husband. He had [gone] out to walk their dog at 6:30 PM and usually returns in half an hour, however, the dog had returned home with its leash in tow, minus its owner,” the Northampton police said in a statement.

The 84-year-old man, who is wheelchair-bound, did not come back because, according to authorities, he had “fallen down a steep 20-foot embankment in the woods and had been yelling for help for hours.”

Northampton Fire Rescue helped to lift the man to safety.

According to authorities, he was then taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital for minor injuries.
