Marco Rubio Applauded the Biden Administration’s Hurricane Relief

  • Florida was hit hard by Hurricane Ian, and Republican Senators voted to deny relief.

Senator Marco Rubio showed this week the now-familiar Republican routine of taking federal funds for hurricane relief. 

Hurricane Ian struck Florida on Wednesday night as a Category-4 storm. More than 2.5 Million people were without power and more than 1,100 needed rescue. Nearly 80 people died. According to The New York Times

However, Florida’s senators Rubio and Rick Scott didn’t vote for a stopgap bill Thursday. It included $18.8 million more to FEMA for Hurricane Ian and other natural catastrophes. HuffPost reported.The bill was passed without the support of 25 Republican “No” votes. 

CNN’s Dana Bash brought up Sunday’s topic Rubio’s vote against Hurricane SandyRelief: “Why should other Senators vote for relief in your state when they didn’t vote on a package for it?” 

Rubio said that the truck was loaded with items that were not related to disaster relief. I would never suggest that we use the disaster relief package for Florida to pay for any other items people need around the country.

On Sunday’s episode of ABC’s “This Week”, Anchor Jonathan Karl asked Rubio the following question: “How is FEMA doing?” Is Florida receiving all it needs from the Biden Administration? 

“Yeah. FEMA, they have all been wonderful. As I’ve said, the federal response from day one has been very positive — as it has always been in the past and we’re grateful for that,” Rubio replied.

 

Floridians are expressing their dissatisfaction. With the response of the government to the hurricaneAs they claim that resources are shrinking.

Rubio did no immediate respond to Insider’s requests for comment.
