Many thousands of Meta Workers signed up for Blind Day Before Mass Layoffs

  • Before mass layoffs, Meta employees joined the blind professional network Blind.
  • The announcement by Mark Zuckerberg was made just minutes before blind signing began with close to 3,000 Meta staff members.
  • The site has seen a record number of Meta workers sign up over the past week, with around 7,000 now working there.

According to its co-founder, Meta staff members flocked in large numbers to the anonymous professional network Blind on the day Mark Zuckerberg announced mass job losses.

The day preceding the Facebook founder AnnouncedKyum Kim spoke out to Insider about 11,000 job cuts and nearly 3,000 Meta employees signing up to the platform.

Blind boasts more than 64,000 Meta workers who have joined its platform. It claims this is more that three quarters of its workforce. Over 7,000 Meta staff signed up within the past two week.

Kim stated, “I thought that it was pretty really mind-blowing.” “We’ve seen much more use in the recent days.”

Blind users cannot post reviews of companies they work for. By requiring users to enter their email address and job title, the platform measures professional status.

Meta had 44 employee reviews posted on Blind between November 9 and 10. Many people took the opportunity to leave their feedback.Zuckerberg is your best friend. However, some reviews were favorable.

Kim spoke to Insider about how discussion naturally carries over to the public channels of its website when layoffs happen because people are looking for new opportunities, and are gauging the job market.

He stated that even if they aren’t laid off, many people are more keen to find new jobs right now as tech is no longer secure. “The trust level in companies is at an all time low right now.”

Kim, Blind’s chief executive officer, stated that he wasn’t surprised executives used Blind, as “very difficult discussions” are held there.

He stated that people are almost happy to be laid off when they go on LinkedIn. But it was crazy. Every one of these posts I believe there are at least hundreds of others who are suffering and stressed out.

He believes that Blind’s anonymous format permits employees to speak freely and without fear of retribution.

Kim stated that she felt very sorry for those who were laid off. “I can’t even imagine what they are going through right now.

Blind was created in South Korea in 2013, and made available in the US in 2014. According to its AppStore profile, there are more than 7 million verified users in 300,000-plus businesses.

Insider asked Meta for comments but didn’t receive a response immediately.
