Magic Johnson backs Gretchen Whitmer during the Michigan governoral race

Magic Johnson, the NBA’s greatest player, endorsed incumbent Democrat in Michigan’s gubernatorial election on Monday. Gretchen WhitmerTudor Dixon, the Republican challenger to President Obama

Johnson, who lives near Los Angeles and is part-owner for many California sports teams, posted his support message on Twitter. The former Los Angeles LakersMichigan State point guard. Larry Bird, his NCAA champion battle during his college career was what made him a memorable player.

“I hope Governor Gretchen Whitmer is reelected for four more years as Governor of Michigan!” He tweeted.

Johnson was at a Whitmer rally on Michigan State University’s East Lansing campus ahead of Election Day, according to WWMT.

According to the latest polls, Whitmer has a nine-point advantage over Dixon in Tuesday’s election. Dixon is at 51.7% support while Whitmer is at 43.1%.

A new study has shown that a majority of respondents are satisfied with the results. WDIV/Detroit News pollMichigan voters are most concerned about inflation and abortion. Dixon’s biggest weakness is among independent voters who support Whitmer 57%-30%.

Democrats from across the country have attempted to make abortion the key issue of the midterm elections, with mixed results. Most of the country has made economic issues such as inflation and gas prices a priority, making abortion one of their top five priorities.

The Michigan gubernatorial election saw abortion remain more prominent, but inflation still outweighed it. However, the issue was still of paramount importance to the voters.

Former President Obama campaigned for Whitmer in Detroit over the weekend as part of a national tour rallying Democrats in key battleground states. Obama stated that Republicans are obsessed with “owning” the libs and not the issues that matter to voters at a Saturday rally.
