Liverpool have been warned to not pursue Kylian Mabappe in the wake of sensational reports that he was linked with Anfield.
Mbappe wants to reportedly In January, leave Paris Saint-Germain, with the relationship between him and the club ‘completely broken’.
It is believed that this is one of the causes. MbappeHe wants to leave PSG because he believes PSG made him promises that they didn’t keep back when he signed a new contract with them in May.
According to reports, he also has a falling out with Neymar and a few of his teammates.
Real Madrid would appear to be his most likely destination, however, Liverpool have emerged as frontrunners to sign him due to PSG’s unwillingness to sell him to the Spanish giants.
Whether Liverpool could match PSG’s asking price, meet Mbappe’s wage demands or if the player even wants to go to Merseyside are unclear, however, Darren Bent believes it may be a better option for the Reds not to pursue the 23-year-old.
Bent highlighted Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland as an example of a talented young striker who comes without the ‘nonsense’ surrounding Mbappe.
“Mbappe comes with a lot of baggage… there always seems to be something,” Bent told talkSPORT.
“Look at Haaland who’s a superstar of world football, he comes with no baggage. He gets the deal done. You don’t hear about him. He seems like a model professional.
“Whenever we talk about Mbappe he’s always upset about something or he’s fallen out with somebody or him and Poch didn’t have a good relationship…
“There’s all this kind of nonsense.
“He was unhappy last year, he wanted to go to Real Madrid on a free. That didn’t happen and now he’s signed his bumper contract and now again he’s not happy.
“I’ve got no doubt Mbappe is a phenomenal player but do you want that coming into your dressing room and upsetting it?”
Bent plays for Tottenham but is an Arsenal fan. He was asked by talkSPORT if he would swap Mbappe with Gabriel Jesus Gunners forward.
Bent said: “Right now? No. Jesus’ actions are what I love.
“I’m not saying Mbappe isn’t a better player, because he is.
“But Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League table.”
