Staff workers at Speranza Animal Rescue weren’t sure what to expect when they received a call informing them that an extremely agitated bulldog was on the way.
Frank entered the rescue area, and immediately after seeing his relaxed, grouchy expression, the team realized that they were in for a difficult task.
Frank was known for his unpredictability and fierce behavior. His personality was also reflected in his grimace. However, Frank’s staff members were happy to show him the love and kindness they deserved.
“He was found as a stray and he was less than friendly,” the rescue wrote in A Facebook post. “His permanent RBF was accompanied by low growls and snarls … This little gremlin is short in stature, but has an attitude for days. But we are so in love already.”
The rescue workers were initially cautious, but soon they became comfortable with the cheerful little guy.
“Some of the volunteers thought, ‘Oh no, another big attitude,’ when they heard about Frank coming,” rescue representative Janine Guido told The Dodo. “[But then they] fell head over heels.”
Frank learned manners from rescue workers by learning positive reinforcement techniques, such as how he could walk on a leash or how to politely inquire for what he wants. Frank started to enjoy his new friends and gained confidence. His frown quickly vanished to reveal his sweetest smile.
Guido is ecstatic about Frank’s development thus far.
“Frankfort is making good progress within the rescue and with the volunteers!” Guido said. “He doesn’t greet people with growls anymore, which is a win for all of us.”
Frank will soon be placed in a foster family where he will develop his good-boy skills. Frank will soon be ready to go up for adoption once he is settled and has found his forever family.
He’ll be able to continue his favorite activities such as long walks and playing with his toys.
The dog lovers who believed in him will make this once-strenuous guy a happy man.
