‘Late Late Show’ host James Corden apologizes for the restaurant ban controversy

The Late Late Show host James Corden took some time to address the recent controversy surrounding his restaurant ban at the start of Monday’s episode.

The owner of the restaurant claimed that the host had been ‘nasty’ to the staff.

James Corden apologized for his rude comments made to Balthazar’s waitstaff in New York.

Recalling the incident, Corden said his table was accidentally served with a dish his wife would have had an allergic reaction to and said he made the comment ‘in the heat of the moment’.

Explaining his side of the story, James Corden said, “I didn’t shout or scream. I didn’t get up out of my seat. I didn’t call anyone names or use derogatory language.”

James continued, “I have been walking around thinking that I hadn’t done anything wrong, right? The truth is that I have. I made a rude comment and it was wrong.”

“It was an unnecessary comment. It was ungracious to the server,” he added.

Balthazar’s owner Keith McNally first banned Corden. He released an official statement via his Instagram account stating that Corden had been rude to staff. The ban was later reversed after James made a phone apology.

Talking about the incident in his monologue, the host continued, “I called him straight away and I told him how upset I was that anybody was hurt by anything that I had said. We had a pleasant conversation. He appreciated the call.”

James Corden, the host of The Tonight Show with David Letterman, announced in April that he would be retiring. Late Late Show.
