Kymberly Herrin, Playboy Playmate from ‘Ghostbusters’ and ZZ Top’s ‘Legs’ music video, dead at 65

Kymberly Herrin, Playboy Playmate who appeared in “Ghostbusters” and ZZ Top’s “Legs” music video, has died. She was 65.

Her niece, Theresa Ramirez, confirmed the star’s passing to Fox News Digital Wednesday. Ramirez had previously shared a picture of her aunt with her sisters on Facebook.

Ramirez captioned his post with “They are all together now.” “Aunt Kymberly Herrin. I love you.”

Herrin died peacefully Oct. 28 in Santa Barbara, CaliforniaAccording to an obituary published in the Santa Barbara News-Press, he died on December 1, 2013. While a cause of death wasn’t revealed, the family asked for donations to be made in Herrin’s memory to the American Cancer Society “to further research of the prevention and treatment of cancer.”

“I definitely miss her,” Ramirez told Fox News Digital. “She was taking good care of my grandmother, and now she’s gone. I have big shoes.

“Most people see only the external stuff. She was, however, the kindest and most caring person I had ever met. She never spoke ill of anyone. She was a peacekeeper.”

Herrin was born October 2, 1956, in Lompoc. She was a Santa Barbara native who went on to be featured on the covers of more than a dozen magazines. Herrin served as Playmate of the Month for Playboy’s March 1981 issue. She was featured on the cover of Playboy’s September 1982 and September 1983 issues. Hugh Hefner’s magazine had several special editions featuring Herrin.

Herrin is known for her modeling and acting skills. She was a part of several important films, including 1984’s “Romancing the Stone”With Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner, and Danny DeVito. That same year, she appeared in “Ghostbusters,” captivating viewers as a seductive ghost who shares a sensual scene with Dan Aykroyd’s character Ray Stantz.

She loved her job. She loved being in the limelight, but she was also very down-to-earth. Ramirez described her as humble. She loved being a model. She liked the lifestyle. She was able to travel, fulfilling her childhood dream. She met many famous and interesting people on the way.”

Aykroyd, who worked with Herrin in 2021, recalled the experience.

The 70-year old told Polygon that she “remembers the woman who played this.” “Her name was Kym Herrin and she was a Playboy Playmate. She was the ghost. Like, I wish they’d let that scene go a little longer.

He said, “Sexual encounters are very common with spirits.” “And there are some people that I know that have a house that has a presence, and they don’t try to purge it. They say, ‘You know what, I’m going to stay with it, and I’ll live with it.'”

Herrin played the role of a Playmate, fittingly in the 1987 film “Beverly Hills Cop II” which starred Eddie Murphy.

Herrin is also remembered for being one the statuesque blondes that flaunted their stems during the music video. ZZ Top’s hit song “Legs.”This track was a summer hit in 1984.

Ramirez said that she has a lot of stories and photos about how she would carry me around. “But, as I grew up and became more independent, she began to be into Playboy, modeling and other things. I still remember the one-time I saw her do. I went to schoolShe picked me up at school.

“I was in elementary and she came up to me in her little black VW Beetle. All of the boys stopped her black VW Beetle, with the top down. They were all just looking at me and knew who she was. It was embarrassing to me that they knew her identity. “I thought that only my friends knew her.”

According to her obituary Herrin continued her love for sailing.. For several years she lived aboard and enjoyed sailing on a yacht measuring 75 feet. Her mother, her brother and two nieces and nephews are her survivors.
