Schrier is a member the House Committee on Education and Labor. Before her time in CongressShe was a pediatrician and worked with children in the Puget Sound area. The 55-year old congresswoman, born and raised in Los Angeles (California), finished first among a crowded field of over 10 candidates in the nonpartisan primary to Washington’s 8th Congressional District. 

In 2018, Schrier transformed the district Blue for the First TimeSince its creation. 

Larkin, Schrier’s challenger, works for a family-owned manufacturing company. He is expected to retire in 2020. Lost and ranIn the general election for attorney-general of Washington, Bob Ferguson will be defeated. Before you run for CongressLarkin was a criminal prosecutor as well as an attorney. In the nonpartisan primary, which featured five Republicans and three Democrats, Schrier finished second.

Washington’s 8th Congressional District straddles both Cascade Mountains. It also includes eastern King and Pierce counties. Seattle is both the largest city of Washington State and the Pacific Northwestern Region of the country. It is also located in the 7th District. 

Under the previous boundaries for 2020, President Joe Biden beat former President Donald Trump by 6.5 percentage points. Redrawn to expand northwest, and include more King and Snohomish countyFollowing the 2020 Census, redistricting will be done. The partisan lean was unchanged.
