Monday, October 24, 2022 was the announcement by MRC studio executives, that a finished documentary about KanyeWest, who now goes under Ye, has been canceled.
As reported by Variety, the MRC studio executives Modi Wiczyk, Asif Satchu, and Scott Tenely said in a memo, “This morning, after discussion with our filmmakers and distribution partners, we made a decision not to proceed with any distribution for our recently completed documentary about Kanye West.”
The executives continued, “We cannot support any content that amplifies his platform.”
They wrote, “Kanye is a producer and sampler of music. Last week he sampled and remixed a classic tune that has charted for over 3,000 years – the lie that Jews are evil and conspire to control the world for their own gain.”
The other important thing is that DondaThe talent agency CAA has officially dropped the rapper. Following Balenciaga’s Vogue and CAA, however, MRC and CAA have severed all ties to the rapper.
The rapper has been facing several consequences in recent weeks. His Instagram and Twitter accounts were shut down due to controversial comments he made about Jewish people.
The news of Ye’s documentary being scrapped and CAA dropping him as a client came after UTA co-founder and CEO, Jeremy Zimmer released a company-wide memo calling for a boycott of the rapper on Sunday night.
Kanye West’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian addressed the rapper’s antisemitic comments and wrote on Twitter, “Hate speech should never be tolerated or accepted. I stand with the Jewish community, and demand that the hateful rhetoric and violence directed at them stop immediately.”
Hate speech is never OK or excusable. I stand together with the Jewish community and call on the terrible violence and hateful rhetoric towards them to come to an immediate end.
