Kanye West’s $15k-a Year School, Donda Academy and Shuts Doors: Reported by The Reports

Reports claim that Donda Academy, a controversial private school established by Kanye West earlier in the year, has been closed immediately. A social-media post by the rapper seems to indicate that he deleted the post.

Hollywood UnlockedIt said that it had received an email from parents of Donda Academy students stating that Donda Academy would close immediately at the discretion of its founder. The Times of London reportedJason Angell, principal at the school, sent the email. Screenshots of this email were also distributed online. 

West appeared to confirm this news in an Instagram post, now deleted, directed at Jason Lee (CEO of Hollywood Unlocked), which was the first to report on the email. In the deleted post, West stated that “Here’s what you want.” “My school is being shut down.”

Per Hollywood UnlockedAngell wrote in an email to say that the school plans to reopen September 2023. Angell also stated that “we are confident in the ability of our scholars to continue to progress as creative innovators, influencers, and academic leaders for the next generation.”

Donda Academy is an unaccredited Christian school that requires parents to sign nondisclosure agreements before their children can join. Rolling Stone reported. There are around 100 students in the program, half of whom receive scholarships from West and his friends.

Uniforms are made by the school’s $15,000 per-year students BalenciagaYeezy, the rapper’s brand.

Its basketball team, which drew some of the most talented high school basketball players from the US, also wore designer uniforms. TMZ reported Wednesday that the team was kicked out from a prestigious tournament because of its founder’s remarks.

This month, West caused controversy by wearing a White Lives Matter shirt. Tweeting: “I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.”
