John Fetterman explains why his tattoos are so meaningful

Tucker Carlson, right-wing pundit, spent 20 minutes ranting over Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman’s tattoos and Tucker Carlson earlier this month. The right-wing pundit spent 20 minutes ranting about Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. NBC News Op-EdPublished on Sunday. 

Fetterman’s Op-Ed highlighted a particular section from Carlson’s September 7, 2001He stated, “All your stupid little fake tats, it’s just a costume. It’s not real, Duh. Carlson also accused Fetterman of not being tough on crime, as the former mayor for Braddock, Pennsylvania.

Fetterman wrote, “Gun violence or violent crime might seem like a joke to Carlson but they are very real in towns like Braddock.”

Fetterman said he has nine dates tattooed on his arm to represent the violent deaths that occurred in Braddock during his tenure as mayor — including the death of a 23-month-old who was sexually abused and left to die in the snow and a man who was fatally shot while delivering pizzas.

They aren’t a ‘costume. He said that they are reminders of those we have lost as well as what I am fighting to protect.”

Fetterman is a Democrat and Dr. Mehmet, a Republican, is up for a US Senate seat. 

Fetterman said that “etching permanent art onto one’s body isn’t the way most politicians would express their connection with their communities.”

“My decision to mark these deaths with tattoos was inspired in part by their permanence — the fact that these people, their stories, and my town will be with me forever,” he added.
