Jack Grealish joked about Miguel Almiron’s abilities at Man City’s title celebrations, now Newcastle star has scored three more goals than City winger this season

Jack Grealish cracked a joke about Miguel Almiron’s abilities last season, but now the Newcastle star has more goals than him.

Man City star finds himself in hot water after he made an innocent joke about the Newcastle forward in a video of Man City’s Premier League title celebrations.

When explaining how they won the Premier League, Grealish made a comment that suggested the Magpies star wasn’t very good.

“There were two secrets… one, Riyad [Mahrez]Take him off the pitch as soon as possible. He played like [Newcastle star Miguel] Almiron,” he said.

“Number two, [pointing at Bernardo Silva] he’s been so good this season, get him off the pitch.”

It’s likely Grealish may regret name-dropping the Paraguayan now, though – even if there was no malice intended in his comment.

Almiron scored against Brentford on Saturday afternoon to make his side 4-1. The home side won 5-1 before they went on to win. – pushing them up to fifth in the table.

The 28-year old sent St. James’ Park wild as he intercepted Ethan Pinnock’s pass to goalkeeper David Raya, before taking it around the Bees stopper and firing into an empty net.

Meanwhile, over in Manchester, Grealish drew a blank, smashing a chance over the bar against Southampton in his side’s 4-0 win.

This season, the City man scored one goal. It was a cross by Kevin De Bruyne and Wolves.

For Almiron, his goal on Saturday marked his fourth of the season, with his others coming against Fulham and, ironically, Grealish’s side City.

The former Atlanta United star did struggle when he first signed for Newcastle in 2019 for a then club record of £21million, scoring just 14 goals in 132 games.

This season, however, he seems to be in the right place.

Perhaps Grealish’s comment put some fire in his belly…
