Issa Rae criticizes Hollywood for ‘protecting’ Ezra Miller, a ‘repeated offender’

“While I don’t support people jumping to immediate conclusions and I think it’s entirely fair for investigations to happen, I think it’s extremely important to, like the mantra says, ‘Listen to women,'” Rae said, which was cited by PEOPLE.

Rae stated, “There is this person who is a repeat offenders, who’s behaving atrociously. As opposed to shutting them off and shutting down production, there’s an effort for the movie and them to save themselves.” “That is a clear illustration of Hollywood’s willingness and ability to go to great lengths to protect itself and its offenders.”

Miller was arrested this year on charges of disorderly conduct, and assault. They publicly apologised for past behavior and said they would be making amends in August. For complex mental health issues, seek treatment.

Rae said in her interview, Hollywood needs to make real progress so that women can thrive. They won’t be afraid to speak out or it will ruin their careers.

“It is just a continuous pattern of abuse which’ll only continue if Hollywood keeps insisting on being this” she said.

She believes that accountability is also necessary. “People need to be held responsible. You must have legal consequences. Hollywood is not good at consequences. Hollywood is the worst industry for punishing people who have committed wrongdoings or acted in bad ways. Money will always be the most important thing.

She believes that money should not be a leading factor in determining the outcome of a situation. “What I’ve learned is that I can manage my environment and who I work alongside. I can hold others accountable in my world and bubble. She said that she doesn’t have the obligation to work for everyone. Rae said that money doesn’t always make you rich. “All people aren’t good people.”

Despite Miller’s legal troubles and problematic behaviour, their film, The FlashThe release of, is still planned for June 23, 2023.
