More than 500 illegal immigrants hit one part of the southern border in just a few hours on Friday — just as Martha’s Vineyard was scrambling to cope with an influx of just a tenth of that amount.
Fox News used thermal imaging to identify lines of migrants attempting to cross the border illegally in Eagle Pass (Texas) — one of many worst-hit areas of the migrant crisis, which has rocked the southern border region since early 2021.
Fox News witnessed three large groups, totaling more than 500 illegal border crossers, in three locations within two hours. This sector has seen over 450,000 illegal border crossings this fiscal year.
There are an average 1,500-2, 000 illegal crossings per day in the Del Rio Sector. Eagle Pass is contained within it. There were 3,300 illegal crossings in the Del Rio Sector last weekend. Additionally, there were 733 “gotaways”.

The encounters come just as a political controversy was ongoing in Martha’s Vineyard, where Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had already sent 50 migrants aboard planes. Democrats denounced the move as cruel and political stunt. Arizona and Texas Republican governors have bused migrants into the sanctuary states of Chicago and New York. However, this is still a small percentage of those who were encountered at the Mexican border.
“They used them as political pawns — treated them like chattel in a cruel, premeditated political stunt.” Karine Jean-Pierre, White House Press Secretary, spoke Friday about the GOP governors.

“Several of the individuals who were transported to Martha’s Vineyard have alleged that a recruiter induced them to accept the offer of travel based on false representations that they would be transported to Boston and would receive expedited access to work authorization,” Newsom wrote. Republicans pointed out that only a small number of migrants were being sent to liberal summer hotspots. This is in contrast to daily migrants who crash into the border. DeSantis ridiculed liberals over their reaction to the few migrants sent to the popular vacation spot.

“When even a tiny fraction of what border towns deal daily is brought to their door, they go mad and are so upset that this is happening. It just proves that their virtue-signaling frauds,” he stated.
Friday saw buses arrive at the island resort in order to transport the migrants to Joint Base Cape Cod.
Republican Gov. Charlie Baker announced that 125 Massachusetts National Guard soldiers — more than twice as many migrants — were activated in response to what one group described as a humanitarian crisis.

“Shortly after the arrival of these individuals, Martha’s Vineyard residents joined with local and state officials to create temporary shelter and provide necessities in a moment of urgent need,” Baker said in a statement. “However, the islands communities are not equipped for sustainable accommodation so state officials created a plan to deliver an extensive humanitarian response.”
