In a new trend, teens pour milk out of grocery stores to raise awareness about the impact on dairy production emissions

The latest environmentalist trend: milk is being sold in grocery stores. 

All over the United KingdomTeens who are concerned about the environment are now doing milk pours. According to Animal Rebellion, the new trend is for teenagers to go into grocery stores and pick up milk cartons from cows. Then they pour out their contents. 

Social media has shown teens pouring milk onto the ground, above the counters and anywhere else in the store.

“The dairy industry is extremely environmentally destructive. The world’s top 5 meat and dairy corporations are now responsible for more GHG emissions than Exxon, Shell or BP,” the organization said in a tweet Saturday.

It stated that “We NEED a future based on plant material now.”

Grain, an internationally non-profit organization and Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP) shared a report with the account. It calls for the planet’s “dramatically decreasing its” emissions. Greenhouse gasEmissions” can be defined as the elimination of meat and dairy. 

Animal Rebellion reports that the “milk pours” were held at eight locations on Saturday, including London and Manchester, Norwich and Edinburgh.

The group stated that animal farming was the leading cause of wildlife loss and natural ecosystem destruction. Another tweet from the group called on the government to support farmers and help them transition to a plant-based food system.

Many countries have established regulations for the agriculture sector, including limits on nitrogen emissions from dairy production. Although these have been criticised by environmentalists, they have supported the use of dairy alternatives such as almond, soy and coconut milk.

The Biden administrationhas indicated it plans to push for climate change-related changes in the US agricultural industry.

In 2020, 11% of all U.S. greenhouse gas emissions were from agriculture, compared with 27%. transportation,25% from energy and 24% from industry.
