Mahmoud Charr is doing everything he can to ensure that he gets the next shot at Tyson Fury’s WBC heavyweight title.
‘The Gyspy King’ was in talks to face Anthony JoshuaFury was fighting at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 3, but the fight was cancelled. Fury is now looking for a new opponent.
The plan appears to be for Fury, a 34-year-old, to defend his belt against Derek Chisora or Charr later in the year. Fury has already beaten Chisora twice.
A fight announcement is made. This week’s expected, but it seems like an opponent is not set in stone after Charr’s latest social media post was aimed at convincing Fury to fight him instead of Chisora.
“Tyson Fury, ‘The Arab King’ has arrived. Take the challenge,” Charr said while walking a White Lion on Instagram
“The White Lion is coming to the UK. I’m ready to punch your face, man. Stop talking and sign the paper. You promised the people.”
The 37-year-old captioned the post: “Tyson Fury … the lion is hungry, I’m coming to England and I want you, you long giraffe … finally sign the contract and show the world that you’re the gypsy king and ready to fight the Arab king !”
The pair have previously verbally agreed to fight and Charr has even claimed that he’s signed a contract with Fury’s promoter Frank Warren which enables him to come in as an opponent for either Joe Joyce, Daniel Dubois, or Fury.
Charr is, in the opinion of many, not a good opponent for Fury.
He was last seen in the ring in 2015 with someone of note. On that occasion, he had been brutally knocked by Mairis BriedisWho has put in his best effort at cruiserweight.
Charr has won five awards and the WBA [regular]Since then, he has held the heavyweight title but has not shown that his skills are worthy of another shot at the WBC title. He lost to Vitali Klitschko in 2012 and was unable to defend it.
