Danny Murphy maintained his claim that he would prefer Kylian Mbappe to Erling Haaland.
Mbappe and Haaland are undoubtedly the stars of the new generation, as the Cristiano Ronaldo era and Lionel Messi end.
The Norwegian star has already scored 15 Premier League goalsIn nine games since joining Man City this Summer
All questions about his status as a global star have been put to rest.
Murphy, an ex-midfielder for Tottenham, Charlton, Liverpool and Tottenham, said to talkSPORT in September that he’d rather have the Paris Saint-Germain striker.
He said: “Mbappe, talk about another super star. He said: “Mbappe, talk about another super star. I’d pay money to see that lad.
“He’s not in a class of his own. I’d have Mbappe over Haaland. Haaland is my favorite place, but Mbappe would be my first choice.
“Mbappe has this explosive dynamism, this individuality that is unbelievable.”
Murphy stood firm in his opinion, even though Haaland scored goals at an almost unprecedented pace.
“I stand by it,” he told talkSPORT. “When you go and watch football you want to get off the edge of your feet and be entertained.
“Mbappe with the skill set he’s got gives you more pleasure on the eye.
“Haaland goals to games is a little better than Mbappe, I think it’s every 1.2 games and Mbappe is every 1.4.
“You could argue where they’ve played and the levels.”
Mbappe’s future has once again become the hot topic of conversation Among other reports that he feels ‘betrayed’ by PSG and wants to leave in January.
The scramble will be on, once again, to sign a player who will be a top superstar for at least the next decade, with Murphy’s former side Liverpool linked with a move for him.
Rio Ferdinand joked that he wants Rio Ferdinand to join Manchester United.
He tweeted a picture of him meeting Mbappe with the caption: “Done deal #AgentFerdy.”
