How to Get a Job at a $33 Billion Bank Firm Revolut

Revolut is expanding and growing, said Alexandra Loi, global head of HR. Although the company is cautious in hiring the right people for the right jobs, it is still “fully continuing with recruitment”. 

Revolut was founded by Vlad Yatsenko and Nikolay Storonsky in 2015. It offers banking services worldwide. Through its apps and debit card, users can make online payments and purchase in many currencies. The company’s value has risen to $33 billion. Storonsky, however, has ruled out an IPO at this time.

The firm was accused of creating a culture that promoted burnout, unpaid work and difficult goals in 2019. Wired 2019 Investigation. Storonsky published an open letter in 2019 responding to these claims saying “we haven’t always gotten things right,” but that the company is not the same as it was “12 to 18 months ago when these mistakes were made.”  

Loi described the culture of Loi as “diverse and supportive” and added that there are still high expectations and a culture of “high-performance.”

Revolut currently has a variety of roles available, including those for a 3D designer, Backend Software Engineer Crypto, and a Growth marketing managerEurope. Loi stated that the firm received over 250,000 applications during the first three months of this year for 576 positions.

Based on their location, senior employees at the company receive six-figure salaries. Insider reports from the past on the company’s foreign-disclosure-hire data in the US between 2019 and 2021. An operations partner was the highest-paid in the data set at $300,000. The head of crypto earned $250,000, while the senior backend engineer earned $175,000. 

The hiring process includes sending a résumé and Linkedin profile; a phone screening; three interviews to check technical skills, problem-solving skills, and cultural fit. 

Loi outlined three characteristics that the firm seeks when it hires. 

1. People who do things well 

Loi says that two of the firm’s most critical values are “get things done” and “delivering WOW.” 

Loi stated that this means Loi is clear about what he wants, he pushes through, he doesn’t face roadblocks, and a lot of things can happen. “So, we don’t resort to excuses. We don’t go along with the idea that ‘I can’t do it.’ Instead, we find a solution and have the determination and willpower to get there.

Storonsky said the company is about “getting s**t done,” He spoke to Insider in 2017.

“Delivering WOW” is about creating “seamless and amazing” products and experiences that customers love. 

These values require specific skills, which includes problem-solving. Loi said that this is also required. 

She stated, “It’s about being curious, using logic, reason, and common sense and being able think deeper about the problems and come up to the right solutions.” We need people who will not just say “Okay, that’s great,” but will ask, “What can we do better?” How can we achieve excellence? “How can we strive for excellence in what we do?” 

2. Authenticity is highly valued 

Revolut recruiters can be impressed by you simply being yourself. This will allow them to assess your suitability for the job. 

Loi said, “If I attempt to impress people by underemphasizing or emphasizing certain things, and get accepted to the job,” Loi explained. 

She encourages them to be confident and to share their knowledge and aspirations. 

Loi stated that “Show us who YOU are, not what you want us think you are.”

3. A thorough understanding of the company

Loi encourages applicants to do “a little research” and have “concrete reasons” why they want to join the company. 

She stated, “Know why it’s important for you to join a company other than the fact that it has a great brand name.”

Loi advised candidates to “check out the product” in order to determine if they like it and if they are satisfied with the services. You should also research the culture of the company to see if it is in line with your values, and if you feel like you would fit there.

She stated, “My main advice to everyone who would like to be a part of this journey was to be themselves.” Are you hungry? Are you motivated? Do you enjoy solving problems? You will probably find this a wonderful job. We’re looking forward to receiving more applications and people joining us, as well as developing strong talents. We are very open.”
