How Gibbs-White’s talent at Wolves caused his rise and departure

During Morgan Gibbs White’s 14 years at Wolverhampton WanderersThere were many times when he made his teammates gasp but January 10, 2017 was the most memorable.

“We played Swansea in the Checkatrade Trophy and that was the first time we heard him be outspoken,” says Harry Burgoyne, the goalkeeper who played alongside Gibbs-White in the club’s academy.

“He was younger than all of us, playing up an age group, and yet he was the voice in the changing room at half-time, demanding better of everybody. That sums him up as an individual. He was 16-17 years old and telling grown men that he wanted more.

“That’s a big part of why he’s been successful. He’s never happy with a performance. He always wants better.”

It was the same ambition, impatience and precocious talent that prompted his departure from Molineux this summer, ending the dream he shared with many Wolves fans of becoming the first player produced entirely by Wolves’ academy to become a Premier LeagueRegular for the club.

Today marks the return of the prodigal son, aged 22 years old, for the first time As a Nottingham Forest playerHe had the opportunity to remind his former club about what they had and how they sold it.
