Erik ten Hag has been told to drop Cristiano Ronaldo against Chelsea following his ‘disrespect’ on Wednesday night.
Manchester United defeated Tottenham by 2-0 at Old TraffordIn an impressive performance, however, the main talk of town was the 37 year-old after he caused controversy for the wrong reasons.
Ronaldo, who had failed to get onto the pitch in the 89th minute, walked down the tunnel with all eyes on him.
After the game, Ten Hag said: “I will deal with that tomorrow, not today”, instead preferring to focus on the performance of his team.
However, all of the post-match talk was about the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and according to talkSPORT’s Gabby Agbonlahor, Ronaldo should be punished and axed from the squad ahead of Saturday’s trip to Chelsea.
Speak on TalkSPORT Breakfast, Agbonlahor said: “Ronaldo is a spoilt brat, let’s be honest.
“He’s 37, he’s had the best career and is probably one of the best players to play the game. Your team, who you’re meant to love, are playing the best football that they’ve played in years and absolutely battered Spurs.
“They play better without him. Ronaldo started against Everton and scored one goal. Then he began against Newcastle. He was poor, got up and fell and then had a good huff.
“I rate Ten Hag for not being pressured to play Ronaldo. It is disgraceful to walk down the tunnel in that way.
“It happened at Villa with a player called Carlos Gil. He didn’t get on, I think that Tim Sherwood used all of his subs and we scored a winner, and he walked down the tunnel and went home.
“You can’t do that. It’s so disrespectful to your teammates and if I’m the players in the changing room with Ronaldo after the game and find out about it, I want my manager to make a statement. I’d leave Ronaldo out of the Chelsea game.”
Agbonlahor added: “It’s disrespectful. Yes, he’s one of the best and scored 700 goals but you can’t disrespect your teammates. He made it about him.”
