Here’s what you need to know about the Rainbow Bridge

For many of us with dogs, we’ve already known the unbearable sense of loss when faced with the passing of a pup. Others who have lost their dog are still enamored with the memory of their beloved pet. Maybe it was the weight and grief that drove an anonymous poet into writing Rainbow Bridge, a prose poem written in the 1980’s to help all of us manage the unmanageable. To express what we feel in our hearts.

The Rainbow Bridge’s Beginning

We don’t know the origins of the Rainbow Bridge. The idea may have originated in the Norse myth of Bifrost, according to some. Bifrost is the Rainbow Bridge which connects the worlds between the gods’ world and the human world. The Rainbow Bridge links this world to the next. It has a lush green meadow that allows dogs to run free and be happy.

The origins behind this piece of prose aren’t well known. Since the poem began spreading around pet circles in the 80’s, at least Three men are credited with the creation of the prose poem.. Paul Dahm, a grief counselor from Oregon, is believed to have written it in 1981. William Britton was the author and published it. Legend of Rainbow Bridge 1994. Wallace Sife (head of the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement), is the last candidate. All pets can go to Heaven is on the association’s website. Whatever the author, they spoke of the place that we long for, the place where our family is reunited.

Sharing Our Lives. And our love.

Dogs aren’t called our “best friends” because they are passive observers in your life. Your furbaby is a companion, sounding board, the provider of emotional support, a partner in crime, nap buddy, dinner date, a loyal greeter when you return home from work, and that’s only naming a few characteristics of your pup. A dog’s love is pure and unending. Unconditional. A huge void is created when a loved one dies.

The Rainbow Bridge

Rainbow Bridge can be found on the other side of heaven.

Rainbow Bridge is where an animal that was close to someone dies. All of our friends can enjoy the meadows, hills and other amenities that are available to them. We have plenty of food, water, sunshine, and our friends feel warm and cozy.

If you can’t have your dog by your side in this life, what would you dream for your beloved pet? Rainbow Bridge This is where your dog will be restored to her vivacious, vibrant self in the best days of her life.

All animals, old and young, who were ill or injured are restored to their health and vitality. The animals who suffered injuries or were maimed are restored to health and strength, much like the memories we have of them from our childhood. The animals are happy and content except for one thing: They each miss someone very important to them who had to be lost.

There is no suffering. No suffering. After a long and happy life, there is peace.

If the grief of losing your dog takes over your daily life, you can turn to the words of the Bridge Bring comfortThese words allow us to visualize the place our dog has been since we were unable to care for him. Playing with other dogs without restrictions due to age or illness.

They all ran and played together until one day they stopped and looked into the distance. His bright eyes are focused. His excited body quivers. He suddenly starts to run away from the group, flying through the green grass, with his legs moving faster and faster.

The poem is over and you are taken to the most powerful spot. It is the moment that you and your dog are reunited after having been apart that is the most memorable.

You’ve been spotted and you feel the joy of a happy reunion with your friend. You feel the rain of happy kisses on your face, your hands touch the head again, and you gaze once more into the eyes of your beloved pet, long absent but always present in your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together…

Together Again. Over The Rainbow Bridge

…and with that luminous parting, you remember the connection that you made in this world with your dog will not cease in this lifetime. Your bond with your pet cannot be put on hold. Time apart does not diminish your love. It continues to live until you reunite with your loved one at the Rainbow Bridge. The Rainbow Bridge is more than just a place. It’s a special place in our mind, in our hearts, where we will always be together with the doggy we love.
