The “Golden Boy Award” is one of the most prestigious individual awards in European football.
The award was established in Italian sports newspaper TuttosportIn 2003, it was voted by journalists and the general public. The award is presented to the player who has had the most impressive calendar years, and is under 21.
The past winners were Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi and, most recently, Matthijs de Ligt from the Netherlands, who won the award for 2018.
The prized trophy will be awarded to the young Juventus star in December. If he wants to win the trophy two times in a row, however, he will face serious competition.
Three of the most prominent names in the final 20 are Jadon Sancho and Joao Felix. Vinicius Junior is also included.
