Helena Bonham Carter claims Johnny Depp was ‘vindicated” after the Amber Heard trial

Bonham Carter points out that not everyone who is being tried, legally or in the court of public opinion, will get a quick return to the spotlight.

“I don’t think there’s a place for Kevin Spacey,” she said.

Bonham Carter expanded on her beliefs by expressing disdain for society judgment.

“Do you ban geniuses for their sexual activities? “There would be millions of people if you examined their personal lives enough to disqualify them.” she stated. “You can’t ban people. I loathe cancel culture. It has become quite hysterical and there’s a kind of witch-hunt and a lack of understanding.”

Helena Bonham Carter has worked on several projects with Johnny Depp, many of which were directed by her ex-husband Tim Burton.

Bonham Carter is also a strong defender of J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” author and creator, who has been criticized. She comments on gender identity.

“If she hadn’t been the most phenomenal success, the reaction wouldn’t be so great. So I think there’s a lot of envy unfortunately and the need to tear people down that motors a lot of this canceling. Rowling was also a victim of schadenfreude,” she said.
