Grammys 2023 – Drake and The Weeknd protest the awards once again for the second year running

According to reports, both Canadian artists refused submissions to the Recording Academy.

It seems like Drake and The Weeknd’s issue with the Grammy Awards is not resolved yet.

Artists are not required to submit music for the 2023 Grammys.

In the past, both musicians expressed frustration at the Recording Academy’s behind-the scenes work.

The Weeknd makes a statement about the New York Times in 2021 said, “Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys.”

The Blinding LightsIn an interview, the singer expressed his dissatisfaction with Billboard2021. “Look, I personally don’t care anymore. I have three Grammys, which mean nothing to me now obviously.”

The singer continued, “I suck at giving speeches anyways. Forget awards shows.”

Abel Makkonen Tesfaye (32-year-old singer) spoke out about his shock at 2021 Grammy Awards’ snub. “I use a sucker punch as an analogy. Because it just kind of hit me out of nowhere.”

“I definitely felt… I felt things. I don’t know if it was sadness or anger. It was confusion. I wanted answers. Like, ‘What happened?’”

While Drake has had his beef with the Grammys which dates back to the 2017 event when the artist noticed that his pop/ R&B hit song Hotline BlingHe was nominated for Best Rap/ Sung Performance, and Best Rap Song.

The OVO Sound radio show the day after the 2017 awards ceremony, the singer said, “Even though Hotline Bling is not a rap song, the only category they can manage to fit me in is a rap song.”

The singer added, “Maybe it’s because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m black, I can’t figure out why.”
