Mount, 23, won Chelsea’s penalty after being fouled by former Blues defender Fikayo Tomori, before setting up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for his side’s second on the night.
He is the only outfield player to start every match under the Potter era and speaking after the game, Chelsea’s head coach was once again pleased with the midfielder’s performance.
He spoke to BT Sport about the move by Chelsea to the top of Group A in the Champions League: “He’s really important.
“He was on a yellow card and he plays a lot of football so we just felt that at half-time it would be sensible to give him a breather.
“But I thought he was fantastic. He was very good in spaces and attacked the goal well. We won the penalty.
“So I’m really pleased for him and really pleased with him from the start. He’s a really important player.”
Mount has four assists under his belt so far this season and scored on international duty for his country in England’s 3-3 draw against Germany.
