Graeme Souness has stated he is leaning towards Cristiano Ronaldo over Lionel Messi having watched Manchester United’s star score goal no.700.

Despite being a peripheral character under Erik ten Ha this season RonaldoHe proved that he can still perform on the big stage.
The winner of the contest was the 37-year old Red Devils’ 2-1 victory at Goodison ParkUnited came back from behind to win all three points.
This was not only his first Premier League goal of the campaign but it was also a significant milestone in his career. landmark 700th club goalHaving scored at United Sporting Lisbon, Real Madrid, and Juventus.
No other player has. Ronaldo scored more goals than Ronaldo in the history football., and Souness believes the fact he has thrived in three of the ‘Big Five’ leagues in Europe gives him the edge over Messi.
Ronaldo has won titles from England, Spain, and Italy while Messi has won trophies from Spain and France.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Souness, 69, said: “I’ve always leaned towards Messi. They’re the two best ever for me.”
Chipping in, Jim White remarked: “You’ve played against Maradona.”
To which Souness replied: “Yeah, but longevity comes into it.
“If Maradona had been playing until the end, we would be talking about him in the same breath I’m sure, but because of the longevity.
“See Ronaldo has done it in the big leagues, hasn’t he? Messi has exaggerated in the French league.
“He obviously did the business in Spain and in the Champions League.
“Which for me was taking the argument away as why he wasn’t such a player for Argentina.
“Because he’s still playing against the same players in the Champions League every fortnight and making them look like schoolboys.
“But Cristiano has done it in three leagues now.”
