GOP Election Deniers Must Be Defeated by 2022

  • CNN spoke with Liz Cheney, Rep. Liz Cheney. She said she is “very concerned” about the election deniers running in 2022.
  • One report revealed that 43 candidates who oppose the election are running for statewide office within 27 states. 
  • Cheney said, “I believe those people have to all be defeated.” 

GOP Rep. Liz Cheney indicated that she is worried about election-denying candidates and stated “they must not be defeated” during a CNN interview on January 6th Committee’s investigation.

All 43 Republican candidates for governor, attorney-general, and secretary of states who have defied the outcome in 2020 will be on the November election ballots in 27 States. Recent report by the nonpartisan group States United ActionThese candidates are running in Arizona, Michigan, Alabama, and for the three offices in November. 

Cheney stated, “It doesn’t really matter to what party someone belongs too.” “If they run on the assumption that they will refuse to certify future legitimate election results, they must be defeated.”

Cheney warned about the candidates who would win over former President Donald Trump if they ran again in 2024 in key state like Arizona, Michigan, Nevada. 

Cheney stated, “That’s clearly, fundamentally, an attack on the survival of our republic, and I think that those people have got to get defeated.” 

The 2022 primary elections will also be contested by election deniers. Have seen many Republican candidates.Even those who lost their races by large margins refused to admit their losses and baselessly claimed fraud. In some cases, they sought recounts. 

Even more could follow Trump’s example of refusing defeat in November, which was modeled by former President Donald Trump. Trump was the most visible candidate to defy that norm in 2020. He refused to concede defeat to President Joe Biden. Even after his supporters stormed Capitol Square on January 6  

In Sunday report by the New York TimesThe outlet surveyed 20 Republican candidates for US Senate and Governor and found that six of them, all endorsed Trump, refused to confirm that their votes would be accepted. 

A Similar Washington Post ReportAlso published Sunday was a report that found that twelve top GOP Senate or gubernatorial candidate would not agree to accept the results this fall, or did not respond, with many of those who did cast doubts on the security and integrity of their states’ electoral systems.
