Google’s Discover Feed has been an excellent destination for those looking for the most recent news and interesting content. But, some YouTube video recommendations might not be to your liking at times. Here’s where the new Google app feature comes in.
As reported by SamMobile(opens in a new tabThe Google app ExploreFeed now allows you to hide videos from YouTube channels that you aren’t interested in. The outlet claims that the most requested feature was the ability to disable recommendations from specific content creators.
You could choose to accept irrelevant recommendations in your Discover feed, or block all YouTube videos. The latest update makes it impossible to choose one or the other.
Google is well aware that YouTube recommendations should not be disabled simply because you don’t like the video. Google Discover already makes it possible to hide content from websites you don’t want to visit, so the absence of an equivalent option for YouTube videos was rather perplexing.
The new capability allows you to personalize the content that is sent through your feed. Although most of the videos and articles in this stream are based upon your search history, Google may sometimes be too broad with its suggestions.
It’s important to note that YouTube still has the ability to block videos. If you choose a Discover feed without video, this may be soon. Make your way to Google’s desktop homepage.
