Golden Retriever Steps In To Nurse Puppies After 12-Strong Litter Born

Many people have witnessed the moment when a golden retriever helps another dog feed her 12 puppies.

According to the popular TikTok video posted by @scoutslegacygoldens, her Pyrenean mastiff dog Nova had more puppies than she could care for.

The video of Nova getting assistance from Brookyln, the retriever, who is seen nursing her puppies since she has recently “weaned her brood,” attracted more than 194,000 viewers.

Amanda Jean Pratt, their owner, admits she doubted at first the concept’s success. It has been liked by more than 32,000 people since then. You can access the video here.

@scoutslegacygoldensOur pasta litter momma is happy to help the Pyrenean mastiff momma care for 12 babies! The Pyrenean mastiff breed is a non-popular breed of dog that protects livestock. The bond my Golden’s have with these giants dogs truly fits our household 🥰 while my focus is Golden’s, my best friends focus is on this rare breed. We have a lot of support for one another, and our dogs shared that with us.🥰 #goldenretriever #pyreneanmastiff #puppies #scoutslegacy #responsiblebreeder #purebreddogs #akcfss #coparenting ♬ Bundle of Joy (From “Inside Out”) – Sergy el Som

The video captioned: “The Pyrenean Mastiff breed is an ancient and nonpopular breed of dog for guarding livestock. The bond my Golden has with these giant dogs truly fits our household while my focus is Golden’s, my best friend’s focus is on this rare breed. The support we have for each other is huge, and our dogs took that on as well.”

Before Brooklyn assisted in producing colostrum, which is “the first production of the mammary glands that plays a critical function for puppies and kittens,” Pratt noted that Nova spent “one-on-one time” with her offspring.

The sweet video has received hundreds of comments on TikTok, with one user writing: “She looks so delighted to help and mama is like thank you so much.”

This can be confirmed by me as a breeder of labradors. My lab, just finishing weaning her puppies had 17 kittens. One user isn’t startled by the video because she has a similar but very different experience.
