Golden Knights’ Phil Kessel ties NHL ironman record at 989 games

How did he manage to live so long? Kessel knows who he really is to his advantage (and sometimes to his detriment) and sticks to it.

His game revolves around making plays and having the puck. It’s not about doing anything remotely physical. No. Kessel is adamant that he will never be hit by anyone or get hurt. Kessel stays in his lane 100% of the time. That means he doesn’t do anything extra after practice, and there was one year I remember he mentioned skating for the first time all summer not long before camp. He’s a one of one.
