Eliminating cash bail in IllinoisGianno Caldwell, Fox News political strategist and analyst, says that this is setting the state up to look like a horror movie.

As Chicago, the country’s third-largest city, continues to face a rampant crime wave, the state is preparing for the 2021 SAFE-T Act to go into effect on Jan. 1, 2023.

As a result of the bill’s elimination of cash bail, Caldwell said in a New York Post op-ed that one of America’s most violent cities will begin to operate like the fictional cities in “The Purge” movie series, in which citizens are given one night a year when they are allowed to commit any crime they want, without repercussion.

Caldwell was the younger brother of Christian. Chicago, shot and killedThis was earlier in the year. He was 18 years of age.

Police have not yet identified any suspects in Christian’s murder, almost three months after his death.

Caldwell isn’t just concerned with cash bail for violent offenders, though.

“To make matters even worse, offenders who are released on electronic monitoring devices must have violated their parole for 48 hours before it is considered a crime,” he wrote. “In the state’s largest county — Cook County, which encompasses Chicago — at any given time, there are more than 3,000 people wearing ankle monitors. This includes about 100 have been charged with the crime of murder.”

Local law enforcement officials are also concerned about the law.

Caldwell stated that the Illinois officials who drafted this law would have the blood of all innocent victims if they didn’t change their course by January 1. “The most at risk are those of black and brown heritage they claim to support. They will be the first victims if the criminals are released.
