Gervonta DAVID is set to stand trial in December for alleged hit and run. Judge rejects plea agreement that would have allowed him to avoid jail.

Gervonta DAVID is now in court for a 2-day trial regarding an alleged hit-and run in November 2020. A judge had rejected a plea agreement on Wednesday.

American boxing star, American Boxing Star, had agreed to a deal that would have allowed him to avoid prison time. However, this agreement was rejected at a hearing.

The incident occurred just days after Davis secured an impressive KO win over Leo Santa Cruz.

It’s alleged that he was driving a Lamborghini Urus SUV at around 1:50am when he ran a red light and struck a Toyota Solara – four people were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

He died in March 2021. ChargedAs a result, 14 traffic violations were charged.

It was reported in Baltimore by several local media outlets, including the Baltimore BannerThe boxer was seen at a hearing, where it was confirmed that he would stand trial in December.

Davis agreed to a plea agreement, which would have seen him get a one-year suspended sentence and two months of home confinement with work release.

This plea agreement was made for the charges of leaving an accident scene involving injury and property damage, driving on a suspended license and running red lights.

Jyair Smith, one of those who were involved in the crash, spoke at the hearing. Her words convinced Judge Melissa Phinn not to accept the plea deal.

It was confirmed that Davis had reached civil settlements for three of the victims of the crash. Smith was still a victim in a civil lawsuit.

She explained to the judge that she had seen Davis in the eyes. He then fled the scene. She had to also have gall bladder surgery.

“I begged Mr. Gervonta Davis, I looked him in his eyes,” Smith recalled, “I said, ‘I have to get home to my daughter, I’m pregnant.’ He never once came over to help me. He got his things and left.”

Smith’s attorney, Gil Amaral added: “She wants the court to know that she won’t be satisfied with anything other than a period of incarceration in order to make sure this person gets the message.”

After hearing these arguments, Judge Phinn disapproved of the plea deal.

Now, Davis is set for a trial in December – the same month he was planning to stage his next fight.

Although talks have been ongoing in the background about a possible showdown with Ryan Garcia it is not clear if any progress has been made.

It is not clear if Davis will be allowed to box in December, let alone with Garcia in a super fight.
